-This item is an updated version of the overpants originally designed to be worn over the M-51 cargo pants officially adopted in 1951. The cargo pockets on the sides have been redesigned for a more modern look, with two tiers of pockets. 
-In addition, zippers have been added to the knee area, so the pants can be worn open at the knees or removed from the knees down to wear as shorts. 
-The waist is elastic and has a drawstring.
