Clear Heavy Broadcloth
At the core of my shirt-making is this heavy-broad material, which we continue to develop every season.
The material is a thick 35-count single yarn made from organic extra-long cotton.
Developed in collaboration with Kaneta Textile in Shizuoka Prefecture.
This yarn is completely original and features a count design that did not exist in the world.
Two years to establish the spinning system. Another two years from then to weaving at the ideal density. It was a development period that took a total of four years—something that would hardly be possible in a typical exhibition cycle.
Still, we were able to make it happen thanks to Kaneta Textiles' skills and passion, as well as my own determination to make this material the core of our brand.
This fabric wasn't made just for this season, but has been made for the past four years for "this very moment."
Kaneta Textile is a weaver that uses ultra-high-density looms, which are rare worldwide, allowing us to weave thick yarn to its limits.
For many years, I have placed complete trust in their technology and approach to craftsmanship.
This material was designed to simultaneously achieve the beautiful sheen of a dress shirt with the toughness that can be used in everyday life—elements that are originally contradictory.
The ideal was a shirt that could be worn casually without ironing and still retain a certain dignified elegance.
This shirt fabric has a solid core that can stand without over-polishing.
The fine-yarn shirt fabric made from high-quality raw cotton is certainly beautiful.
But once you wear them, they wrinkle deeply, and the burden of care gradually makes you hesitate to reach for them.
I've had that experience many times. On the other hand, simply weaving with thick threads tends to be more casual and loses the tension of the dress.
That's why it was necessary to weave it with a density comparable to dress shirts, even though it was thick in the count.
It was a difficult challenge, but by facing it head-on, we completed a shirt fabric unlike any other.
Since it's 100% cotton, wrinkles naturally form.
However, the characteristic textured wrinkles characteristic of thick counts on this material are not a flaw but rather a form of expression.
Wrinkles that are rugged and supple that won't appear with fine counts.
I myself wear it without ironing. I think that's a good material.
By wearing it for a long time, I hope you can naturally feel the strength and security of this fabric.

Draping Shirt 001
This is a series of draping shirts released every season, designed to showcase three-dimensional tailoring silhouettes.
This series is designed under the concept of naming the season's representative 3D cutting models "Draping," numbering them, and releasing them continuously.
This model serves as the standard for that purpose.
The design originated from the ladies' couture of the early 1900s.
We reinterpret the esprit of the era when couturiers of the time conducted sculptural research to make the body appear three-dimensional and beautiful, and now it is modern men's clothing.
Back then, clothing didn't trace the lines of the body; rather, the garment itself existed as a standalone three-dimensional piece.
We are replacing that concept with men's shirts.
The interpretation of the armholes is far removed from the original design of traditional men's shirts.
The shoulders are designed to drop significantly while wrapping around from behind, allowing volume to flow naturally back and forth.
The overall silhouette is designed to evoke a three-dimensional egg-shaped shape reminiscent of a cocoon.
By intricately arranging the armhole cutting, directional drapes and three-dimensionality appear when the sleeves are lowered.
The side lines connecting the front and back panels swing slightly forward.
By folding oversized portions from that position, a surface is created on the body.
The design features different expressions from the front, sides, and back, allowing you to enjoy 360-degree changes in form.
This time, we adopted an open-collar design without a collar.
A loose collar is created around the neck, harmonizing better with this three-dimensional body balance.
The hem features a round hem, and the flow of the silhouette and the continuity of draping have been adjusted to look more natural.
This season, we are producing with nonnotte's signature heavy broadcloth material.
Because of the high density and firmness and rebound, the fabric rises as a surface rather than a drape, making the shape clearly visible.
Rather than falling softly, it takes shape structurally.
This is the expression of a draping shirt that works precisely because it is heavy-broad.
