NONNOTTE / Pleat Dock Shorts Trousers (Mulled Basil)

Heavy broadcloth is at the heart of nonnotte's shirtmaking. The material is spun from organic extra-long staple cotton, a thick 35-count single yarn, and was developed in collaboration with Kaneta Textiles in Shizuoka Prefecture. Kaneta Textiles utilizes unparalleled high-density looms, enabling them to weave thick yarns at the highest possible density. This is a weaver I trust completely. The finish used for this shirt is a "clear finish," chosen to create a material that simultaneously possesses the contradictory qualities of a beautiful luster like a dress shirt and toughness. My ideal shirt is one that retains a certain dignity even when worn casually without ironing. This material embodies that desire. Fine-count shirts are certainly beautiful. However, they wrinkle after just one wear, requiring a lot of care, making them unattractive. I've experienced this feeling many times. However, simply weaving a thicker count just results in a casual fabric like oxford, losing the beauty of a dress. That's why we needed to create a high density that rivals that of a dress shirt, bringing out the strength of the thick count.

It was a difficult challenge. However, Kaneta Orimono took on the challenge, and after many years, they have finally created a one-of-a-kind shirt fabric. While wrinkles are inevitable with 100% cotton, the uneven creases characteristic of a heavy count are actually one of the characteristics of this material. Its rugged yet supple creases are impossible to replicate with a finer count. I personally wear it without ironing, and I think that's fine. I hope you'll appreciate the toughness of this material over the years. In addition to the classic "White," we also offer "Silver Peony," inspired by the pale pink of the peony flower, and "Mulled Basil," a khaki with a European nuance. Both colors complement the deep character of this heavy broadcloth. Pleat Dock Shorts Trousers CF (Center Front) feature box pleats at the waist and a hidden zipper hidden within the pleats. At first glance, they look like wrinkles caused by elastic, but they are actually four regularly-spaced box pleats, creating a three-dimensional effect with depth despite being easy shorts with a rugged drawcord.

The wide silhouette that falls straight down to the hem and the beautiful straight line that extends below the knee are the epitome of nonnotte's "elegance in shorts."
